We live in a valley that a small river runs through and empties into a lake 3 miles from our home. In the fall of the year, when the air is cooler than the land and water, we frequently have dense fog shrouding this long river valley in the mornings. All summer the ospreys are cruising over the lake by 6:00 am hunting for their breakfast. But, in autumn the fog may not lift until 10:00 am or later, postponing their daily routine until they can see the movement under the surface more clearly.
